Today started off with the rain. Usually, rain and I are like coke and lemon...perfect match babeh. But today, since I have to rush for the bus to college as usual, rain wasn't such a good thing! No matter how careful I walked, my both shoes and socks ended up slightly soaked. Darn... Furthermore, woke up with a throat that sores. Double darn... Until now still soring wei so cham! Anyhow, today was a better day than yesterday. At least I emo less lol! It's emo season again for me... Or more accurately, gloomy season since I'm not emotional, I'm just very very sad lol. In the future, Edwyn will diagnose me as having severe depression and will stuff me with "happy pills". LOL! Ok... back to business! Tudulu~

Besides THAT incident a long time ago, I have never cried before. Maybe it's something built into a male's genetics LOL! But something is very wrong with me. Although no matter how much sadness and grief I bear in my heart, I cannot cry, not even 1 drop. But when I watch some movie, a sad one, bam gone. Tear ducts start working hyperdrive lol! It's either I don't get much REAL sad stuff in life or I'm just a baby when it comes to the big screens lol! Oh well, lets cry babies :P!

Promises and words

Have you ever made a promise or at least verbally told someone you will do something or help her? If you did, have you ever broken the promise or didn't stick to your words? At times of falsehood stimulated by desires and necessities, empty promises/words, or at worse cases, lies, are becoming a trend in our lives. Sometimes we tell someone we will do something, just for our own selfish reasons such as to avoid nagging, scolding, to get loved, to get money, to "improve" inner beauty and so on. This immoral act from any point of view can become so effortless yet fruitful that people just keep doing it and doing it until one day, they don't even realise that they're doing it. What's up with people and their empty words? If you don't mean it, why say it? It you're not planning to keep it, why make the promise?

As impossible as it sounds, not everyone is like that. There are still a handful of good samaritans out there who only say something or gives promises when they really meant it. And then there are some who appears to be always giving empty promises, which is only half true. Yes they broke the promise, or didn't keep to their words, but that doesn't prove that they didn't really mean it at the time of promise. But the human emotion can be very confusing. Today you might be enraged with the will and determination to keep your words, and tomorrow you will think to yourself, hey, I just don't feel like it anymore, or even just totally forgot about the promise whatsoever! It may sound like the promises that these people make shall never be taken seriously anymore, but nothing is certain. Human are adaptive to changes, just like everything else, for survival. You cannot blame one for changing his/her mind half way through the journey, but you can certainly not trust him/her anymore, its totally up to you.

But is there really no credit for the promise made by the person who mean it at that time? That person didn't plan to give out empty words/promises at that time, so is he really at full fault then? Perhaps he(assume male) changed his mind half way through because something has happened to him? Maybe the intended(the person he made a promise to/agreed to do something for) did/didn't do something, which made him lose faith in keeping the promise/word. Maybe the intended was faced with so much stress and emotional attack, that he has naturally belittled the promise/word he made? And perhaps even maybe he thought his promise/word was negligible to the intended, and so he didn't bother to keep it. If "huh?" is your reaction to my previous sentence, here's a scenario for you. Imagine if you said "yeah I will be over for lunch tomorrow" to a friend, but later realised that he had initially planned to have lunch with his girlfriend, and since he don't get much time with her(just like most of us since studies are becoming more intense as we grow older), so you decided to break your word, or even say a little white lie and tell him you couldn't make it. It's really not that hard to imagine.

As long as there are a reasonable explanation to why the person did not keep to his word/promise, he shouldn't be at fault, at least not fully. Promises and words, they mean alot to me. And honestly speaking, even though I am one who likes to make empty promises for fun(but not when I'm serious), I dislike empty promises myself. If I tell you I promise I want to spend time with you friday night because I'm busy saturday night, believe you me I was dead serious when I said it. But to some being stressful or emotional can greatly diminish their word-keeping ability, as for me, I guess you can call me selfish for giving in to my rage(or rather grumpiness) due to tiredness and hunger. But you should never take the words of an angry person too seriously, because even though they might mean it, at normal times they won't mind it as much. You might argue there's a big difference between "want" and "have to". But to me, when I "have to" make up for my mistake, I "want" to make up for my mistake. Because no matter how much I hate/dislike something you did/possess, I'm sure you have something to dislike about me too. And frankly, my love for you(as close friends) is far greater than whatever I dislike about you, just that temporary rage can cover my good side.

So remember, when a promise is broken or kept, its not so simple. Many things can happen, and not all is the fault of that person. If you are the promise breaker, don't feel too bad but rather find ways to make up for your mistake. For the person whom the promise is broken to, don't stop believing because he might just be having some hard time.
