Yes, that is physics, but no, I'm not discussing about wavelengths and frequencies of visible light. Instead, I'm going to explain what it means by that expression.
Meanings :
1) If there's no good, then there's no bad, because we have nothing to compare bad with.
2) The more we're afraid of the dark(shadow), the more we'll try to find a source of light to fight it, but in reality, it is this light we're trying to find(aka avoiding, trying too hard to solve a problem, etc) that's causing the shadow to last. Sometimes, all we have to do is switch off the light, and just do what we do everyday, continue living.
3) Some things last long because we're still having hopes in them
4) Light travel in straight line and the shadow is merely the absense of light due to an obstacle blocking its path
